2. Titoudao

Catch a new staging of Singapore theatre classic Titoudao this month.

Based on the true story of Singaporean Wayang star Madam Oon Ah Chiam, Titoudao portrays the struggles of this petite lady with big dreams, fighting against despairing personal states of poverty, gender inequality and shadowed marital vexations.

Above all, she takes these multiple hardships and challenges in life by the horns in order to realize her dreams and find her place in the world. This epic biography also parallels pivotal events in Singapore's history to showcase how our lives have been transformed over the course of over 5 decades.

3. Play:Date – Unlocking Cabinets of Play

Step into a world of playful nostalgia at the National Museum of Singapore's latest showcase.

Play:Date – Unlocking Cabinets of Play is a new experiential pop-up that invites you to relive nostalgic memories through the lens of toys and play. A collective effort with Singapore's local community of artists and toy collectors, this free showcase presents over 250 locally and globally recognisable toys across various eras.

Departing from the traditional museum exhibition format, Play:Date imaginatively transforms different parts of the National Museum into a joyous landscape of play – even temporary spaces and construction hoardings installed for ongoing restoration works.

From extensive toy collections to large-scale artworks, get ready to reconnect with your favourite toys and relive your childhood memories.

Note that while this showcase is free of charge, separate fees apply for the various digital gamified experiences within the showcase. In addition, during the showcase's opening weekend of 6 to 7 July, entry to the National Museum of Singapore is FREE!
