You want a fancy-ish Lunar New Year meal, but you also want to stay home. That’s when you tap on your Deliveroo app to order the Golden Yu Sheng set from Soup Restaurant.

No need to break a sweat when you can order the Reunion Takeaway set ($468) from this Chinese restaurant in Orchid Hotel. With plenty enough to feed six people, the set comes with crispy golden eel and yellowtail yu sheng, Prosperity pen cai, steamed lotus leaf fragrant rice with conpoy in abalone sauce, and yam and nian gao pastries in the shape of gold ingots. Order two to four days in advance.

Lunar New Year Takeaway Set from Yan

The requisite symbolic dishes are all observed in this menu (from $432 for four people). To start, there is Prosperity yu sheng before you dig into a spread that comprises a platter of succulent barbecued meats, braised six head abalone with fish maw, black mushrooms and seasonal greens, steamed cod fillet with minced black garlic and black beans, and wok-fried glutinous rice with preserved meat and Chinese sausage. For dessert, there’s chilled diced pear with white fungus, wolfberries, apricot, almond kernels and dried longan, with “smiling” sesame balls.

If yours is a larger crowd, this Happiness Reunion bundle ($688) will feed up to 10 people. Once you’ve tossed your Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng, you can dive into wholesome braised pig trotters with abalone, steamed seabass with dried oyster mushroom sauce, smoked soy sauce chicken, and fragrant glutinous rice with abalone and Chinese sausage wrapped in lotus leaf. Be sure to save stomach space for the Harvest Japanese purple sweet potato nian gao at dessert.
