8 Best (Non-Ulu) Places To Catch The Sunset In Singapore
Sunset – a time of the day so good they named a boulevard after it. Synonymous with all things fabulous like cheaper drinks (read: happy hour promos) and perfect selfie lighting, there’s something cathartic about watching the skies getting dyed into a medley of orange, pink and purple hues as the sun dissolves into the horizon.
A total sucker for the golden hour? Here are 8 stellar places to catch the sunset.
1. Skyville @ Dawson
With catching sunsets, you triumph with height. Standing 47-storeys above ground, the stunning rooftop garden at Skyville@Dawson towers over every building in the languid Queenstown estate.
Offering unobstructed views of the cityscape, the building has the aesthetics to match. Built by award-winning design firm WOHA Architects, you might be surprised to find that this residential behemoth is actually a HDB unit, giving perennial favourite Pinnacle@Duxton a run for its money.
Skyville@Dawson, 86 Dawson Road, Singapore 141086
2. Mr Stork @ Andaz Singapore
An open secret among nightlife aficionados, Mr Stork is a destination bar perched right on top of Andaz Singapore, boasting sweeping views of the cityscape all around, with an observatory corner made just for viewing sunsets.
Here for a transient romantic getaway? Situate yourself in one of the 10 teepee huts with your partner-in-crime for some much-needed R&R from the hectic world while sipping from their garden-themed signature cocktails.
Mr Stork, 5 Fraser Street Level 39, Andaz, 189354
3. Smoke and Mirrors
For the unapologetic bougie millennial (myself included), impress everyone on your IG story when you enter Smoke and Mirrors. It might be just 6 levels above ground, but the view is nothing short of spectacular. Dine alfresco, which guarantees you the best front row seats of the Civic District.
Smoke and Mirrors, 1 St. Andrew's Road, #06-01 National Gallery Singapore, 178957

4. Pinnacle @ Duxton
Skyville@Dawson might be the new kid around the block, but the OG Pinnacle@Duxton is what Mariah Carey is to Ariana Grande and will forever be known as the most-gorgeous HDB in the history of HDBs.
Not much needs to be said about the perfect vantage point that’ll make watching sundown an evening marvel from the 50th storey, but continue to hang around and watch as Chinatown light up into a neon spectacle as it readies itself for a bustling night.
*The skybridge only allows up to 200 people per day at a cost of $5 per person payable via EZ-link or cash at the guardhouse.

5. Potato Head Singapore
Synonymous with Keong Saik Road itself, simply google ‘Keong Saik’ and you’ll be inundated with pictures of Potato Head’s iconic red and white shiphead-shaped building.
The second level belongs to Potato Head’s burger bar Three Buns, which serves up some pretty badass burgers, and the Fun Boy Three ($23) will be an instant hit for those who have an insatiable appetite for truffle – while the third is home to their cosy speakeasy Studio 1939, but head up to the rooftop by evening with a friend to revel in the swanky vibes distinct to the quaint locale.

6. Southbridge Bar
Who said happy hour promos should just apply to alcohol? The folks at Southbridge Bar seem to agree. Parked along Singapore River, the bar ropes in their Signature Oysters ($20 for 6, U.P $24) on top of the regular drinks promo from 5-8pm on weekdays.
On the drinks front, the menu reads well with a wide selection of wines and spirits, but try the unique blends of the Southbridge cocktails, like the Long Island Ginger Tea ($26), or Southbridge Express ($25) – made with milky vodka, coffee liqueur, coffee and sugar syrup – for workaholics who need to jump back to work straight after.

7. Lantern Bar
If the Fullerton Bay Hotel is the king of hotels, the Lantern Bar on its skydeck must be its crowning glory.
With plenty of lounge seats, the modern destination bar serves up some seriously refreshing cocktails that scream #tropicana. The Peach Berry Sling ($26), mixing Gin and peach liqueur with a slush of fruit juices before being sweetened with cane syrup, pairs well with their tapas menu. We hear their Mini Wagyu Beef Sliders ($27) are highly recommended.

8. ION Sky
No budget? No problem. Located on the top 2 floors (levels 55 and 56) of ION Orchard is ION Sky, an observatory that offers you a magnificent viewing experience of the bustling city without a hefty price tag. Who needs to wine and dine at some extravagant restaurant when you can dabao Gongcha and Old Chang Kee?
