Majestic Beasts, Old Tales Light Up Gardens By The Bay This Mid-Autumn Festival
As if Gardens By The Bay isn’t already IG-worthy, along comes this year’s picturesque Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.
Themed “Legacies”, the vivid display of ancient well-known Chinese stories and traditions includes a huge archway formed by the sinuous curves of a resplendent, brightly-hued Chinese dragon; an over-120m-stretch of floating lanterns inspired by 山水画 (Chinese landscape paintings); and a colonnade of hand-painted lanterns that make this spectacle so perfect for photo ops.
Traditional lantern riddles (aptly uttered by a sagely old uncle), a yummy food street, cultural performances, and a 30sqm canitlevered lantern-inspired pavilion designed by Assistant Professors Carlos Banon and Felix Raspall (co-founders of AIRLAB at the Singapore University of Technology and Design) round up the luminous offerings at this event.
But one of our fave highlights that is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family is the mass lantern walk happening on 14 Sep 2019 (Sat). Best part: participants will get a free LED lantern each (limited to one lantern per participant, while stocks last).
The light-up happens from 7pm to 11pm daily until 15 Sep 2019, and is absolutely free.
