A New (Old?) "Legend Of Zelda" Is Among The Games To Be Released In July

So… E3 2021 was last week. Quite a shock how it came and went without much fanfare, especially for what was one of the biggest game events of the year. But hey, there were some great games announced. My favourites, in no particular order:

  • Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, PC | Release date: 2022
Final Fantasy 1 sequel. I had chills seeing the last boss.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
Nintendo Switch | Release date: 2022
The best Zelda game sequel confirmed!
  • Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
Nintendo Switch | Release date: 2022
Part 2 to the surprisingly good game from 2017.
  • Forza Horizon 5
Xbox Series X|S | Release date: November 2022
The only reason I want an Xbox.
  • Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
Nintendo Switch | Release date: Late-2021
You “shoot” the hantu with a camera to exorcise them.

But these are months away. Let's look at the more immediate future.

As WFH remains the default, you probably need more games to buy since you finished what we recommended last month. No worries, Wonderwall.sg has got you covered. Coming your way in July - games for weebs, sports fans, and those who miss flying out of Changi.

Doki Doki Literature Club Plus
PC, Playstation 4|5, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch

Release date: 30 Jun

I cheated, this game actually comes out end-June. But hey, it was suddenly announced so I didn’t have the chance to feature this last time.

Also, major warning: Don’t let the cute anime girls fool you. This is a text-based psychological-horror-thriller game in disguise. Anything else I say will be a spoiler, but if you’re into anime or love getting chills down your spine, then this remake is for you. You've been warned.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
PC, Nintendo Switch

Release date: 9 Jul

Unlike the team-up hack-and-slash "Monster Hunter Rise" (which I highly recommend), the Stories series is more like Pokemon meets Monster Hunter meets JPRG. After each battle, you can either defeat a monster to use their parts to make armour, or follow them back to their nest to “steal” their eggs, then hatch and add them to your team (we do not condone stealing in real life).

For fans of the franchise, you can even combine different monster genes together to create your dream super monster – imagine Rathalos mixed with Zinogre and Tigrex. Power sia.

F1 2021
PC, Playstation 4|5, Xbox Series S|X

Release date: 16 Jul

Admittedly, I was a fan of Formula 1 up to the Michael Schumacher era, but during CB I stumbled upon Netflix’s "Drive to Survive" and I’m hooked again on F1 (this documentary has more drama than a K-Drama). In "F1 2021", you can relive the on- and off-track drama from the Netflix show in an epic story mode spanning three seasons. The best part: you play the game as yourself. Can’t wait to show Hamilton who’s the boss of Monaco.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
Nintendo Switch

Release date: 16 Jul

"Breath of the Wild 2" is coming next year, so Nintendo has re-released "Skyward Sword" in delicious HD to placate us until then. Like the original, you can use your Joy-Con controllers to actually swing your sword or block with your shield. Forget "Ring Fit Adventure" – this is my new go-to workout game for the month. Not that I actually am playing it though. <stares at the Ring Fit collecting dust at the corner>

Microsoft Flight Simulator
Xbox Series S|X

Release date: 27 Jul

Cannot fly, then fly virtually lah - in this updated version of a classic game. This is as close as you can get to being an SQ pilot without actually endangering others. The game is so super realistic that if you post an in-game screenshot on Instagram, I guarantee your friends will confirm plus chop say wah, bojio.
