In this weekly podcast, host Zat and Wani debate and discuss Singaporeans’ favourite topic of discussion: food. They don’t just talk about their favourite eats, but also look at foodie trends as well, from whether we’re born to like junk food or how we can enforce the “return your tray after eating” rule.

Occasionally, a guest will drop by – such as Masterchef Singapore Season 2 winner Derek Cheong – and chat about Singapore’s foodscape. If you’re looking for a lively lunchtime listening experience, this is it.

The Singapore Noodles Podcast 

Named after the one dish you can’t find in Singapore, this is hosted by chef and author Pamelia Chia ("Wet Market to Table"), and delves into the heritage of our makan culture, and not just in Singapore, but the region, too.

Her guests include notable names in the foodie scene, such as Makansutra’s KF Seetoh, Masterchef judge Damian D’Silva, cookbook author Devagi Sanmugam, and food critic Azimi Saini, among others.

Together, they chat about anything and everything to do with our food heritage, from keeping food traditions alive to the brokenness of our food system. A must-listen for all foodies.

T42 

Pronounced “tea for two”, and helmed by playwright/performer Joel and science educator Kishan, this is a colourful, no holds barred podcast about “whatever the fumbrage” these BFFs want to talk about (use headphones in case people around you can’t take the liberal and flamboyant use of f-bombs).

Whether it’s McDonalds or vegetarianism, the Singapore Zoo or the hentak kaki nature of the pandemic, there’s nothing this pair won’t take on.

Political Agenda 

Despite the name of this podcast, the issues discussed here are more wide-ranging, like the state of the arts and the plight of transnational families. They have interviews too: recent Q&A profiles include author Jolene Tan, for example, who talked about her new book, "After The Inquiry"; and musician Subhas Nair (brother of popular influencer Preetipls) who featured his new album, "Tabula Rasa/Tak Boleh Rasa".

LongKangKitties Podcast 

What do you get when you put four people with strong opinions (the titular Kitties) in one room? A roomful of dialogues about social, political, entertainment issues and other silly shenanigans that occur Singapore – in their inimitable style.

Recent topics include the umbrage over SPH, the hazing hazards at polytechnics, and how one influencer called out the manpower ministry.

The mrbrown show 

Mr Brown (aka Lee Kin Mun, aka the Blogfather) will have you busting a gut with his Tweets and YouTube takes on current issues. But if you want to see another side to the man, you’ll want this.

This podcast is a diary, and here, you get a more pensive Mr Brown musing about his life and family situations. Very different from his YouTube persona, but not even Mr Brown can be smiling 24/7, right?

Rice To Meet You 

Helmed by YouTube star Nigel Ng (sans his Uncle Roger persona) and fellow comedian Evelyn Mok, this is a comedy podcast about Asian culture. It started out featuring many guests – including Michelin-starred chef-restaurateur Elizabeth Haigh, comedian Phil Wang and podcasters Asian Not Asian – and centred on being Asian in the West.

But as the pandemic dragged on, the podcast took a more personal turn, and is now solely driven by Nigel and Evelyn talking about how they’re coping with issues, like the trauma from anti-Asian hate, dating faux pas and… rice cookers.

Two Book Nerds Talking 

If you like books, you’ll like Honey and Diana, the titular nerds who love poring over books. In true book nerd form, they take a deep dive into their favourite reads – from Neil Gaiman’s "Good Omens" to Suffian Hakim’s "The Keepers of Secrets" to Kevin Kwan’s "Sex And Vanity" – and sometimes, they have guests to come along and chat, too. Now into its fifth season, this is a literary journey you won’t want to miss.

SG Explained 

This podcast features two friends, Rovik and Elliot, who take a widescreen view at what makes Singapore uniquely Singapore, as they unveil the untold stories of the island. Season 3, which just ended, covered topics such as the Speak Good English Movement, POSB, the Women’s Charter, Zouk and Singapore’s tattoo scene. Both are clearly interested in what makes the Lion City tick and they’ll have more gems in the new season.
