Stay Home, Stay Safe, Have Fun: Games To Expect In June

The newly added restrictions to stop the community spread only means one thing: More game time for the coming month! Stay home, stay safe, and get ready for some great new games coming in June.

If you’re a Final Fantasy fan like me, then you’ll surely be excited for Yuffie Kisaragi’s “FF7R Episode INTERmission”. We also get a new Guilty Gear after so many years, plus even more remastered titles: “Ninja Gaiden” and “Legend of Mana”. Ratchet & Clank officially make their comeback as well, and there’s a new Mario sports game coming for the Nintendo Switch too.

Now if only my wallet can keep up. I need to jiak cao this month already.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and FF7R Episode INTERmission

Square Enix loves their confusingly long titles, but I digress. We finally have a continuation (somewhat) of last year’s “Final Fantasy VII (FF7) Remake” with “Episode INTERmission”; a brand new side story featuring our favourite ninja girl from the original game, Yuffie Kisaragi.

For lucky PlayStation 5 owners, you could just buy “Intergrade”, which has upgraded graphics of the original FF7 remake and already comes with “INTERmission”.

Mario Golf: Super Rush
Nintendo Switch

We had go-karts, we had tennis, so it’s time for Mario and his friends to play golf next. The new Mario Golf for the Nintendo Switch takes advantage of the Joy-Con’s motion controls – so you can use it just as how you would swing a real golf club.

Plenty of multiplayer fun lies in store for “Mario Golf” too, including a Speed Golf mode where all players play at the same time, rushing to make the putt the fastest with the least number of strokes. No need to brave the hot sun to work on your golf game.

You can even create your own character and upgrade their stats in the game’s story mode too.

Guilty Gear ~Strive~

Arc System Works is the best in the business when it comes to making the coolest looking fighting games not named Street Fighter. “Guilty Gear ~Strive~” looks gorgeous, and even if you’re not a fighting game pro there’s always button mashing to victory.

Classic Guilty Gear characters like Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske return, and there’s a new wall-break feature to transition between stages.

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection

If you’ve never played the original Ninja Gaiden series or just want to remember how awesome Ryu Hayabusa is, “Master Collection” is perfect to dive back into this cool action game. You’ll be able to play “Ninja Gaiden Sigma”, “Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2”, and the (meh) “Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge”.

It’s one of the original crazy difficult games – you’re going to need a lot of patience but that exhilarating feeling of beating the boss is so, so good.

Legend of Mana
PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC

“Legend of Mana” gets the HD Remaster treatment! The 1999 RPG classic is unique in that you unlock new towns to visit and dungeons to traverse using "artifacts", and by deciding where to place them on the world map.

This could unlock secret storylines and determine the area level. Set them further away and battles become more difficult. The game also has a deep crafting system too.

The remastered edition allows you to switch off enemy encounters and comes with a new soundtrack (but you can also change it back to the original score).

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

It’s been five years since we had a Ratchet & Clank game for the PlayStation, so what can we expect from Ratchet and his partner Clank this time around? The core gameplay remains the same, but it’s not only the visuals that get an upgrade – the new game mechanics have you travelling through multiple dimensions in real-time, with no loading screens at all!

Also, what role does the mysterious new female character, Rivet, play in this new story?

Scarlet Nexus

In Bandai Namco’s “Scarlet Nexus”, you play as either Yuito Sumeragi or Kasane Randall, recruited as part of the Other Suppression Force (OSF) to defend your futuristic world against brain-munching beings known as the Others.

As either character, you have access to psychic powers – you can lift, throw, or break things around you as part of your attack combos.

If you’ve played the RPG “Tales of Vesperia” and you like that game’s story, know that the same writing team is also doing “Scarlet Nexus”, so expect an in-depth plot.
