What To Watch, Listen To, And Try This Weekend (April 17-19)
We’re probably preaching to the choir here, but STAY HOME, EVERYBODY.
And if you’re bored, well, join the club, but try staving off your restlessness by watching, streaming, or trying any of these things:
Need something to watch for movie night?
Local indie cinema, The Projector, has shuttered its doors for the month of April, so to raise support, they’re releasing movies on demand. If you’d like to support them – while watching something other than Netflix – you can check out their latest release, Sorry We Missed You, which was nominated for a Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.

My parents and grandparents are antsy, but I don’t want them to go out. WHAT TO DO?
Stay active as a family by watching HPB’s Exercises For Seniors
Soooo your granny misses doing exercises outside with her friends. Help her stay active by engaging in some senior-friendly exercises on HPB’s YouTube channel, which was recently updated with a bunch of new workouts in light of the circuit breaker. (These are also available in Malay, Tamil, and Mandarin.)

What about something I can do with my kids?
Learn to draw your favourite Disney characters
Disney Parks’ How-To-Draw series makes it easy for anyone to draw Elsa, Baymax, Stitch, and other beloved characters. Videos are anywhere from 7 to 20 minutes long, and with over 40 to choose from, you can keep the kiddos occupied for weeks.

WATCH: The Phantom Of The Opera
Need something to do for date night? Get your snacks and your glasses of wine ready because Andrew Lloyd Webber will stream the 25th anniversary production of The Phantom Of The Opera, which was filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011. It will be available for just 48 hours starting from Saturday, April 17 at 2 am on his YouTube channel.

I need something to listen to while doing chores
Listen to the first Harry Potter book for free
If you’re anything like us, you’re doubling down on chores as a means of light exercise. But that doesn’t make them any less boring. Transport yourself out of the house and into Hogwarts by downloading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, narrated by Stephen Fry, on Audible. If you’d rather access the e-book version, you can check it out on Overdrive. Both versions are free for the entirety of this month, so go download them while you can!
Audiobook version available here, ebook available here
