Singapore's First-Ever World Champion Archer Dreams Big, Wins Bigger

Archer Nur Syahidah Alim, who scored a gold medal at the World Archery Para Championship in the Netherlands last month, has her mum to thank for always telling her to challenge herself and society.

"She has been a really great supporter," says Syahidah. "She always tells me to always challenge myself, and to always challenge society – that you are not weak, you can be strong, and you are capable of doing things just like a normal person does."

The result of dreaming big: winning bigger. Syahidah will now represent Singapore at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

"My goal in life is to be the world champion in archery," she says. "To my younger self, I would say, dream big, and work hard on that dream, and one day, you will definitely get to where you want to go."

Congratulations Syahidah!
