What To Do This Weekend (10 to 12 Jan 2025)
Ready for the weekend? Here's what you can look forward to this week.
1. Chinatown Chinese New Year Festival 2025
Usher in the Year of the Snake with the annual CNY festivities at Chinatown.
You can look forward to dazzling light displays across the district, featuring elements like a persimmon tree representing success and fulfilled aspirations, gold ingots symbolising wealth and prosperity, firecrackers, which are traditionally believed to ward off evil and spirits and usher in luck, as well as other elements such as pineapples, gold coins, zodiac snakes and more.
The centrepiece? The 8-metre-tall Tree of Fortune, adorned with shimmering gold coins and vivid red blessing tags.
At its base rests a majestic snake, a powerful symbol of wisdom and renewal, coiled around an ingot to signify wealth and success.
The blessing tags, inscribed with heartfelt wishes, add a personal and festive touch, inviting all to share in the joy of this symbolic display that embodies hope and prosperity.
Other highlights include weekend stage shows, a festive fair with plenty of tasty CNY goodies, and much more.
