It's been said that a mother - whether she is a mum of one like SSG Venice Ng (centre) or a mum of five like Diah Mastura (bottom right) - is "she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take". Mother's Day: These Mothers On Instagram Are #momgoals

To celebrate Mother's Day this year, amid all the chaos swirling around us in the world outside, we curl up into a foetal position and retreat into the inner sanctum of the digital womb that is Instagram.

Here, some of the mums in Singapore who are inspiring emblems of all that motherhood means:

Who dis mama? Andrea Chong, one of Singapore's most well-known influencers and mum to Ezra Isa Imran, born on 9 Jan this year - talk about a Happy New Year!

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"Brought Ezzie out by myself for the first time today - took a short 5 minute drive to the beach, and he was in such a good mood throughout our mini ‘excursion’. I firmly believe in exposing my children to as many things as possible as early as I can, and it was so fun seeing him take in everything - from feeling the strong breeze, to hearing the sounds of waves and kids playing on the beach. It was a great mommy-and-son outing. ✨" - on 15 Feb 2021

Who dis mama? SSG Venice Ng, an assistant trainer in Signals Institute, training signal operators to operate signal sets as well as the Battlefield Management System for the Terrex.

#momgoals quotes from her IG:

"#HIWD to me, and many women out there. We often forget to pat ourselves at the back for having our plates full and wearing many hats. " - on 8 Mar 2021

"Here’s one with our darling boy, Harley.

"Didn’t thought his #NameReveal would be via socials (had wanted it to be on his 1st birthday!) but it is what it is. Thank you for all the blessings thus far X

"PS: Boy was too excited, didn’t nap for 4 hours and it was shown all over his face in the photograph." - on 9 Feb 2021

Who dis mama? Kelly Latimer, a mum of two, a host and presenter, and member of the SAF Volunter Corps, who made the decision to serve when she renounced her UK citizenship in 2016, and felt a duty to protect her country as a new citizen.

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"Who else does this

"10 minute feed
3 minute nappy change
584736278 minutes spent staring at how damn cute they are.....

"And then proceed to complain the next day about how little sleep you got last night

Who dis mama? Aakarshana Saravanan, an effervescent mum of two boys, Sashwin and Shriyaan, who advocates spreading love everywhere one goes.

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"Thank you universe, truly grateful and blessed .

"Sashwin - 27 hours and Shriyaan - 12 hours of labour! Even more than the labour, every day when you were growing in my belly, it was truly hard and challenging with the mad heartburns, non stop nausea and crazy weight gains. But when you both came out looking so alieny and beautiful , my heart grew with so much love and made it all worth it.

"Till to date, I can’t believe I actually made you two! Amma loves my Sashimi and Shri Shri babies so so much! Thank you for always making my day with your beautiful smiles, wittiness and addictive laughters!

"Treasuring every moment with you babies ❤️" - on 11 May 2021

Who dis mama? Sonya Sukha, mother of twins Tristan and Raiden, who made headlines for losing the weight she put on during her pregnancy in just three weeks because she stayed active and only gained what she needed to when she was pregnant.

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. - KG" - on 23 May 2020

Who dis mama? Neetu, a native Californian who has lived in Singapore for 13 years, the blogger behind Supermommy, and mum of Zayden and Xavion (who have their own Instagram account @zxadventures)

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"Just gearing up for a fun NERF battle with kids. What are your weekend plans?

"Although I am a super girlie girl, as a #momofboys I have gotten accustomed to participating in all kinds of random activities that I would never had done before, like sword battles, camping (not glamping), digging in the dirt with my manicured nails, collecting random insects and god knows what else.

"If I had little girls instead, my whole IG feed would probably be of me & my daughter(s) dressing up as twinsies.‍♀️ At least my boys & I kinda match in our neon orange in this picture! But I guess one high maintenance girl (aka me) is more than enough for my family (aka my hubby) to handle!

"Sending fun weekend vibes to everyone!

"xoxo #SuperMommySG" - on 5 Mar 2021

Who dis mama? Shau Fun, who epitomises "picture-perfect family" with her gorgeous pastel-hued images of her, hubby Kent, and their "HAHA kids" (so called because the first letter of each of their names form the word "haha" - how joyful!)

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"Celebrating the last day of #worldbreastfeedingweek.

"I’ve been breastfeeding for 6 consecutive years and counting.

"I’ve not had a straight 2 hrs sleep in 6 years. Every single day, I get a total of less than 4 hours of sleep and it’s very broken sleep.

"Although I look forward to the day I can have a good night’s sleep again, I wouldn’t trade it for this beautiful raw journey I’ve had with my kids.

"It was never easy/smooth sailing for me. Up until today, I still get mastitis and have lost count the number of times I have had it. I still struggle with supply issues on and off.

"I am not a natural oversupplier and worked very very very hard to build enough supply for all 3 of my kids especially when feeding all 3 concurrently.

"During those parenting talks that prep you for your journey with a new baby. They hardly talk about any breastfeeding issues. Nobody tells you breastfeeding is not as natural as it seems. Nobody told you many babies don’t latch on correctly at the start, some refuse to latch at all, some refuses the bottle. Nobody told you, you will struggle with building supply to meet your baby’s needs. Nobody told you how to ease engorgements. Nobody told you there will be mastitis and all sorts of infections and how you’d be bedridden with very high fever and semi conscious and still need to express milk. And of course, nobody told you it’s not a 3 hrly feed, it’s an hourly or continuous non stop feeding round the clock.

"Just like how every child is different, everyone’s journey is different - Whether you fed by breast, bottle, cup, syringe or tube. Whether you fed for a day, a week, 6 months, a year or several years. We all went through it and deserve to celebrate.

"Sending love to all moms. You’re all #supermoms " - on 8 Aug 2020

Who dis mama? Amber Yong, a multi-tasking supermum (just like any other mum!) of twins Leia and Lauren, and little Luke. Their matchy-matchy game is super on point and super cute!

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"There are wonderful days when I feel my cup runneth over. There are also days where I just want to run and hide. Motherhood is such a roller coaster of emotions ‍♀️" - on 17 Dec 2019

Who dis mama? Wanie Kayleigh Gomez, a single mum of four beautiful kids - Sephia, Adrian, Andre and Sophie - who strongly believes that "just because I’m responsible and accountable for someone else besides myself, it doesn’t mean I have to neglect me".

#momgoals quote from her IG:

"3:30am thoughts:

"To love a child is not simply just by words. It is to care and attend to their needs. Most of the time it involves disagreeing with their little habits for their own good. ⁣

"You do not know what loving a child is until you’ve weathered the storm of meltdowns and tantrums. When they’re at the peak of misbehaving and your heart aches because it’s the 100th time you’ve been reminding them to act right & it’s only past lunch.⁣

"Loving a child is when they’re unwell and you ask God to let you be the one to bare the pain instead of them.

"It is rushing through their school project despite you having an early morning the next day.

"Most importantly , you do not know what loving a child is until you’ve felt their affection. When they insist you cuddle up next to them ; how they keep spamming you with hugs & kisses after making you upset. Contagious laughter as we make up bedtime stories together (Andre will always be the first one to sleep) ⁣ It is when they share their fears or how one of the sibling has a tiny crush on the neighbour’s kid (mama shut it down real quick tho)

"So until you’ve finally felt a child’s true affection, you do not know what loving a child is.

"And in all honesty, you do not love a child for your own selfish validation. So don’t be too eager to slip into shoes you can’t possibly fill." - on 29 Dec 2020

Who dis mama? Diah Mastura, who once dressed up her entire brood of five kids, her husband and her helper as Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (above) - hilarious! We love that she is Grumpy, and her hubby is Sleepy lol

#momgoals quotes from her IG:

"Always a struggle to get all five of them to look at the camera. Every photo session is therefore, very exhausting. (Cos we require about 55838385 takes before we get one decent picture). " - on 4 Dec 2020

"14 years. 5 kids. Happy Anniversary to us! Insya’allah, more to come! ❤️ More anniversaries I mean. Not more kids. I am very happy with 5, pls! " - on 16 Dec 2019
