Bangkok’s Chatuchak Market Coming To Singapore In 2020
If you enjoy visiting Thailand’s night markets but don’t have time to travel there, here’s some good news: Bangkok’s famous Chatuchak market will be setting up shop in Singapore next year.
From 4 February to 3 May 2020, you can visit the Chatuchak Night Market at The Grandstand on Turf Club Road. Expect plenty of authentic Thai street food, along with a wide variety of retail goods and services, from clothes to handicrafts and antiques.
Adding to the authenticity, the wares aren’t just being sold by Singapore-based vendors. Instead, the organisers will be periodically flying in different Thai vendors, adding a touch of mystery to the specific line-up of goods available each week.
Chatuchak’s imminent arrival is the latest in a growing trend of Asian night markets being brought to Singapore.
For instance, Artbox, a popular container-based market in Thailand, just wrapped up its 3rd Singaporean edition on 24 November this year.
In addition, Taiwan’s well-known Shilin Night Market also visited Singapore for two weeks back in April.
Although these Asian markets are sadly not permanent additions to our nightlife, there are still plenty of local flea markets and crafter’s markets that you can check out. In fact, one such market is right around the corner.
The Christmas edition of Public Garden will be held at Suntec City from 21 to 22 December, featuring independent brands from all over Asia. If you’ve left your Christmas shopping till the last minute, you won’t want to miss it.
