Things To Do In Singapore: 21 to 31 Aug
Immerse yourself in our local myths and legends at night, or pamper your furkid by the river, or catch some classic films and musicals. Here's what you can do in the coming week ahead...

Singapore Night Festival
Why go: Because it's Singapore’s largest nocturnal experience, that's why. With its theme of "Myths and Legends", this 17th edition promises a robust line-up of artworks and performances, turning the Bras Basah-Bugis precinct into a mythical district where stories come to life.
Highlights include "Tales of Earth and Sea", a striking facade projection at the National Museum", "Birdmen", featuring fantastical, pterodactyl-like creatures (21 to 23 Aug only); "Horror Nights @ Oldham Theatre", with screenings of Asian horror flicks; and XXX at the Kinetic Wall in Funan.
21 Aug to 5 Sep, 5.30pm onwards @ various locations in the Bras Basah-Bugis area. Get more info here

The Growing Up Trilogy: "Ilo Ilo"/ "Wet Season"/ "We Are All Strangers
Why go: If you have time to watch movies, then why not? It's acclaimed, award-winning filmmaker Anthony Chen's latest movie, "We Are All Strangers", the finale to his "Growing Up" trilogy that began with "Ilo Ilo" and continued with "Wet Season". All three movies are now showing, so binge the entire series at one go. And yes, you can use your Culture Pass for this.
Until 31 Aug, various times @ all Golden Village cinemas. More details here

RWS Cares Festival
Why go: Because you can do some good while having fun. This is a two-day celebration of community, inclusivity and sustainability, and it is anchored by the “Steps of Hope” walkathon that takes you through iconic RWS attractions and the lively Green Living Fair featuring eco-friendly offerings by local brands and social enterprises, hands-on workshops, interactive booths, and performances by artists of all abilities. All proceeds raised go to the President’s Challenge 2026. NOTE: registration for the Steps Of Hope walkathon close real soon, so don't delay.
22 & 23 Aug @ Resorts World Sentosa. Get more details and register here
Good Pet Fair - Kampong Edition
Why go: Take your furkid to The Kallang this weekend for some pet-friendly fun, exciting experiences, and community spirit. Sure, this isn't a dog-only affair, but we live in a world where diversity isn't only welcomed; it's also encouraged. Plus, entry is free.
That said, there are canine-specific activities, like the attempt to set a new national record in the "Singapore Book of Records" for the largest gathering of Shetland sheepdogs (Gate 6, 4pm). At the same time, you can meet other Sheltie lovers and celebrate this wonderful breed.
You can also explore the precinct on a guided Paws Around The Kallang venue tour (Gate 3, 4pm), take part in engaging community workshops including one on Pet CPR by Royal Animal Rescue, and end the evening under the stars at the pet-friendly movie night.
22 & 23 Aug @ Great Eastern Promenade, The Kallang. Click here for more details.

Furry Feast Lane @ Jiak By The Quay
Why go: It's the ultimate way to treat your furry bestie. Furry Feast Lane at Clarke Quay’s "Jiak by the Quay" event is designed specially for Man's Best Friend, with an array of curated pet treats – from "cai fan" to "kueh kueh" – stylish accessories, and fun activities to spoil your fur baby rotten. Hello Future: Adventure Awaits
Why go: Because you, like us, believe that children are the future. In this exhibition, preschoolers, through their artworks, show their ideas about identity, community, and the environment. proving that 5-year-olds can apparently deal with existential crises better than most of us. As the old adage goes, "out of the mouths of babes..."

Go Jam At Port 37
Why go: Because you want to hear live music that isn't a string of covers (like, we don't really need any more renditions of "APT"). This jam session is dedicated to original music from Singapore, where musicians play, and the audience can enjoy what the Lion City has to offer. Plus, because this is a jam, you can flex your musical muscles and join in, too!
25 Aug, 7.30pm @ Port 37, 37 Keppel Road, #04-01D, Singapore 089064. Sign up is free. Find out more here
Must-see musical: Jesus Christ Superstar
Why go: If you like musicals that focus on the music, this one is for you. "Jesus Christ Superstar" completely strips away the usual stiff theatre vibes and replaces them with a buzz you usually find at rock gigs. One of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's earliest works, this rock opera spawned the hits "I Don't Know How To Love Him" and "Superstar".
