10 Things To Do In Singapore: 29 May to 5 June

Need help planning your calendar for this coming week?

Well, if you want to do something a little less ordinary, here are 10 things to check out ...

In Other Words

Why you should go:Because you want a concert with a difference! As part of the popular Voilah Festival, this multi-format show combines video, music performance and dance into one big mix – or should we say, metis – using the music of French composers like Claude Debussy and Frédéric Chopin while weaving in an Asian sonic twist.

29 May, 7.30pm, Alliance Francaise De Singapour. Get your tickets here

Earthopia Fest

Why you should go: Because you want to look after Mother Earth, right? With climate change the way it is, this is the least we can do. At Earthopia Fest, you can enjoy bites and beverages from the likes of Breadfast Everyday, Cult Sliders and Echo (among others), participate in workshops and wellness sessions, to learn how to make sustainability a part of your life, and enjoy live music from the likes of Shye, Club Mild, Sobs, Heema Izzati and more. The best bit? It's free! (PS: you have to RSVP though)

29 to 31 May, 10am to 10pm, Fort Canning Green, 51 Canning Rise. RSVP by clicking here

Pink Screen 2026

Why you should go: As far as alternative movie festivals go, it doesn't get any more alternative than Pink Screen 2026. Held as part of Pink Fest, Filmhouse will be screening classic movies such as Brokeback Mountain and To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar, along with more recent fare like Cactus Pears, Queer As Punk and Montreal, My Beautiful. All films are rated R21.

30 May to 25 June, various timings at Filmhouse. Get your tickets here

That Incredible Gig in May

Why you should go: Sometimes, we go because we like the line-up. Sometimes, it’s the fact that tickets are only $20. In this case, it’s both. But this is a great way to catch some Lion City rockers who are making waves in the indie scene. There's something for everyone here, including young female metalheads Maneaters, math rockers Rathmock (“making music fun while making fun music”), psych-rockers Mantra, and visual kei rockers Mao.A, among others. Just how incredible is this gig going to be? There’s only one way to find out.

30 May, doors open 6pm, Wire Entertainment Live House, 82 Lorong 23 Geylang, Atrix. More info and tickets here

Under Ubin Night Skies

Why you should go: Well, this is a side of the island you hardly see. Drama Box has put together a series of evening programmes on Pulau Ubin, Singapore's last offshore island with a living kampong community. Part of this is the Da Bo Gong Qian Qiu Celebration. This tradition has been around for over 100 years, with villagers gathering on the island for wayang (street theatre) performances. A must-see if you haven't yet.

30 May to 5 June, various timings. Get your tickets here.

Splashtopia: Ride the Wave of Aloha!

Why you should go: If you're looking for a fun day with the little 'uns, this will do nicely. Splashtopia 2026: Ride the Wave of Aloha! features water slides, tiki-inspired inflatables, flower garlands, and playful water trails that will keep the kids busy. They can also band together for a water-gun battle against the villainous pirate, Captain Thirsty. In the meantime, you can retreat to Happy's Aloha Oasis for a breather or two.

30 May to 28 June, 10am to 8pm, Palawan Green, Sentosa. Get your tickets here

AUTOMATA: Excess Without Return

Why you should go: This is the closing party of the Singapore International Festival of the Arts (SIFA) and combines music, visual art and lighting design from the likes of Houg, goneMUNE, Hidemen, NONFORM and Alina Ling. According to them, it's a mix of low-poly vaporwave and "medieval hip-hop". And the best part, it's free!

30 May, 9.30pm at the Wayang Stage @ Festival Village. Get more info here

One Ocean: Every Action Ripples

Why you should go: The world's most famous living centenarian, Sir David Attenborough, once warned that humanity still knows more about space than the deep sea, so this exhibition aims to help correct that. Using innovative interactive technology, including a VR adventure and panoramic 360-degree projections, you'll learn to understand – and feel connected to – the marine ecosystems in the waters around us.

30 May onwards, Tuesdays to Sundays, 10am to 5pm, Science Centre Singapore, Annexe Halls. Get your tickets here

XieXie in Singapore

Why you should go: Because it's Japanese indie-pop darlings XieXie, whose mix of rock, chill and psychedelic vibes are just the kind of thing you want to hear to chase those midweek blues away. They are swinging by as part of their Southeast Asia tour and Lion City rockers Elo Elo and Freereina will support them.

3 June, 7.30pm at Room 526. Ticket at $32 available here.

The Inclusive Dating Show

Why you should go: As the name implies, this is a get-together with a difference. And since you're a nice person who wants to help your solo friend get a date, this is the right place to be (note: results vary depending on the individual). Hosted by educator Dr Martha Lee, comedians DeEnormouS, Kimberly Neo, Shaiful Risan and Eugene Lim will attempt to matchmake members of the audience. It’s comedy, curiosity, and connection.

June 4, 7.30pm, Blu Jaz Cafe, 11 Bali Lane, Singapore 189848. Tickets at $30 (inclusive of a drink) are available here.
