Noli Timere
Why you should go: This is the first time a performance like this has been staged here. A collab between choreographer Rebecca Lazier and renowned sculptor Janet Echelman, this show, as part of the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA), will feature performers up to 25 feet in the air, in a suspended Echelman sculpture. This will make anybody’s Insta or TT day.
PS: There will be a talk, The Body as Sensing Technology: Creating Noli Timere, by Rebecca, on the creation of this piece on 27 May, 3pm.
22 to 30 May, various times, Nexus, Punggol Digital District (Punggol Coast). Get more info more here
Block Party
Why you should go: It’s been called the biggest Gen Z party in Singapore! For one day only, the stadium at Our Tampines Hub will be transformed into, yes, you guessed it, a block party. Expect treats from the likes of Sweet Cheeks, Pralet and Rumifolks to satiate your tummy. Plus, you can take part in activities like street chess, Instax photobooth, and basketball, as well as pick up merch like vinyl, stickers and more. It’s free summore.
23 May, Our Tampines Hub field.
Arus
Why you should go: It’s dance like you’ve never seen it before. This performance from NUS Dance Blast – the largest street dance group in NUS – is inspired by stories of the Orang Laut. Choreographed by Ahmad Kamil, it explores, through movement, the “quiet forces that pull us toward or away from where we belong”. It’s one of the performances in this year’s Singapore International Arts Festival, and it’s free!
23 and 24 May, 8pm, Wayang Stage @ Empress Lawn. Get more info here
SFS Somerset Movie Screenings
Why you should go: You get to watch classic films and documentaries that are arguably more interesting than The Mandalorian & Grogu this weekend. Presented by the Singapore Film Society, catch John Travolta classics Saturday Night Fever and Grease, as well as acclaimed documentaries Itam: The Sun Bear and Miraculous Leaf; and the feature film, The Old Man And His Car, which was part of the Official Selection at the 2025 Tokyo International film festival.

Why you should go: So you can find out more about the Lion City's wildlife (yes, we actually have wildlife!). #ForOurPlanet is a short film showcase of three shorts - Seaward, Nurturing Coexistence and Whistling In The Wind - that look at our country's relationship with nature. Plus, there will be a dialogue with the creators after the screening. Admission is free, but you need to RSVP.
