Free Ice Cream at Museum of Ice Cream

Why go: It's a celebration to mark National Ice Cream Day! For one day only, the pet-friendly Dessert Bar and Cafe is open to the public for a celebration dedicated entirely to ice cream, featuring free entry, a complimentary cone for every guest, and free access to its outdoor Sprinkle Pool.

Football Fever at Capitol

Why go: Say what you like, but we like watching football with a bunch of people all invested in the beautiful game. But why go to the community centres to watch when you can catch the excitement of the World Cup Finals at the Arcade at The Capitol Kempinski? The Kickback @ *Scape

Why go: Because it's two days of all things football, that's why!. This football fest features 3v3 street football showdowns and panna battles and lifestyle drops and freestyle performances. Common Room

Why go: What happens when two young adults get the rare opportunity to share a living space of their own in Singapore? Will it be full of humdrum domestic routines, or will it be filled with unconventional moments? Directed by award-winning Checkpoint Theatre founder Claire Wong and ants chua, this performance sees actors Genevieve Tan and Siti Sara Hamid delicately unfold the layers of identity and vocation.

Finding Okaasan

Why go: Cellography, Singapore’s first cello pop orchestra, pays tribute to Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi in this immersive concert featuring music from the Studio Ghibli movies, including Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke, complete with original visuals and animations.

LIT Taster Sessions

Why go: There’s always a reason to pick up a new skill, right? Yes – and the LIT (Learn Improv Today) Taster Sessions offer fun, no-pressure moments for those who want to try their hand at improv. July Skies

Why go: Who could be the next muso to compose the Singapop song for the ages? Perhaps one of these four young up-and-coming singer-songwriters from the Lion City: Sope, JOELLE, Unagi Tapes, and Scenery. It’s intimate sounds, storytelling and “a warm ocean of soft vibes”.

Weekend Culture: Singapore Gaga + Trivia Night

Chasing Light 追: Ding Yi x Dick Lee 70

Why go: Did you know that Dick Lee, best known for his big hit, “Home”, and quirky tunes like “Fried Rice Paradise” or “Beauty World”, also made a name for himself composing Mandopop and Cantopop hits for the likes of Andy Lau, Leslie Cheung, Sandy Lam, Anita Mui and more?

To celebrate Dick’s 70th birthday (yes, who knew he’s already 70?), the Ding Yi Music Company will perform classics such as 追 (Chase), 爱是永恒 (Love is Eternal), and 破晓(Dawn).

Baba Nyonya Literary Festival Day 2

Why go: Day 1 is already sold out. But Day 2 isn’t short of things to do, either. Sliding Down Skyslides

Why go: If you feel the need for speed, then check out Southeast Asia’s tallest dry slides in Sentosa. Standing at 44m high, you have two to choose from: The Big Klook Slide and Skydrop (also the world’s tallest land-based drop slide). Designed for different ages and comfort levels, it has immersive audiovisual elements and interactive ride features, and suffice it to say, this is one downward spiral we don’t mind getting into. Plus, you get great views of the beach, too.
