Things To Do In Singapore: 3 to 10 July
This week, we shine a light on classic movies, classy singers, and a class "A" dim sum street party (yes, you read that right). Bring your families, bring your friends, or just go solo (because why not, right?), there's something for everyone to do in the week ahead.

Singapore Garden Festival
Why this: It doesn't take a budding genius to appreciate one of the world's natural beauties: the flower. And now, you can see them in bloom at the 10th edition of the biennial Singapore Garden Festival. Expect to see exquisite garden and floral displays by some of the world's best landscape and garden designers, all of which will give new meaning to the phrase "flower power".

SYF60 Festival
Why this: Did you know the Singapore Youth Festival turns 60 this year? Admittedly, we didn’t, but this annual event has always been a good platform for our young performers to showcase their talents, and this one will highlight performances ranging from music to dance to physical theatre and even the circus arts.

Classic Movies: The Apartment
Why this: Movie fans, this is for you. The classic 1960 Hollywood rom-com The Apartment, about an accountant who has a crush on a lift attendant, returns to Capitol Theatre for the first time since 1961! Starring Oscar winners Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, did you know that when this movie premiered here 65 years ago, it was sponsored by a calculator company?

Meet & Greet The Lionesses + World Cup Screening
Why this: Okay, this is a two-fer for us. Not only can we watch a screening of the FIFA World Cup 2026, but we can also get to meet players from our own national women’s team. (Yes, we’re also fans of women’s football.) Meeting Lionesses coach Mihoko Ishida, along with players Farhanah Ruhaizat, Ain Salleh, Irsalina Irwan, and team captain Rosnani Azman, before the screening makes for a great Saturday morning in our book.

Illustration Arts Festival
Why this: The Illustration Arts Festival aims to champion the value of "authentic artistic expression, where every line, texture, and story is crafted by artists themselves". To that end, they've gathered more than 260 artists from 16 countries to showcase the rich artistic exchange and collaboration across regions and cultures.

Vacations Holy Grail Tour
Why this: This is your last chance to snag tickets for Vacations’ SG stop on their Holy Grail tour. The Australian band was inspired by lo-fi and alternative music, and they’ve since built a fair following worldwide.

Brian McKnight: A Symphony of Love
Why this: Grammy winner Brian McKnight, the legendary R&B singer-songwriter behind timeless hits like “Back At One”, “One Last Cry”, and “Anytime”, will perform his favourite songs, backed by Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, featuring singer Raisa. Get ready for some emotion in this special anniversary show marking his 25 years in music.

The Table by Rebecca: No.1 Islands
Why this: Honestly, it’s been a while since we’ve had a home-dining experience that didn’t involve me sweating over the stove. For this menu “No. 1 Islands”, host Rebecca Lim's four-course menu will focus on dishes with Pacific, Sicilian, Caribbean, and tropical island influences. Seating is limited to only 6-8 guests, so you have to book early.

Jazz in July: Gabrielle Cavassa
Why this: Singer Gabrielle Cavassa is possibly one of the most interesting jazz singers we’ve heard in a long while. If you like smooth vocals from a lady with an attitude, then you’ll like this. She has said that she always respects the songs she sings, so you can be sure there’ll be lots of r-e-s-p-e-c-t at her concerts for the popular Jazz in July series at the Esplanade.

Open Stables Day
Why this: If you’ve always liked horses, this is your chance to get close to one. Open Stables Day 2026 is part of “Stable Futures – Supporting Mental Wellness Through Horses”, EQUAL’s equine-assisted mental wellness programmes for children, youths, families, and seniors in our community. No prior horse experience is needed, and it’s suitable for families.

Moving Encounters: Curator’s Tour
Why this: If you think Singapore’s CBD isn’t a great space for a public display of art, you may want to think again. This curator’s tour will showcase artworks smack in the middle of our concrete jungle and why they not only highlight the façades but could also be a good way to make us more aware of the spaces we’re in. It's also part of the Momentary Pulses showcase going on now.

Why this: OK, when we say “take part”, we really mean "sit back and enjoy" as TwoSet Violin’s collab with the SSO brings their Sacrilegious Games world tour to our shores.
